Creating Value Through Digital Transformation (DX)
DNP positions its digital transformation (DX) as value creation itself under its business vision of P&I Innovations. By further developing the strengths of P&I (Printing and Information) through advanced digital technologies and data-driven approaches, we will establish a competitive advantage through unique products, services, and business models, as well as through sophisticated operations.

Pursuit of a Better Future Through Value Creation via Digital Transformation (DX)
Through DX, we will further strengthen P&I and drive business transformation and greater competitiveness through the dual pillars of value creation and strengthening the management foundation.
Under our medium- to long-term business portfolio strategy, we promote value creation through digital transformation (DX) by setting policies based on two key pillars: value creation, which involves creating and transforming business models, and strengthening the management foundation, which enhances business competitiveness through the innovation of internal systems and the dramatic improvement of productivity.
Utilizing AI and Advanced Technologies
AI Initiatives
Aiming to create new value through DNP's unique strengths and external collaborations, we are exploring the potential of generative AI and promoting co-creation with external partners. We have developed proprietary data formatting technology that significantly enhances the accuracy of generative AI responses by advancing document structure recognition technology cultivated through the secondary use of printed data. We will continue to roll out solutions leveraging our expertise in document processing and formatting across a wide range of documents.

Formulated the “DNP Group AI Ethics Policy”
As the use of AI continues to advance, challenges such as human rights violations and privacy breaches, the promotion of discrimination, and the dissemination of misinformation due to inappropriate use have become significant issues.
To ensure that the DNP Group utilizes AI for value creation in an appropriate, effective, and efficient manner toward the realization of a more sustainable and fulfilling society and enriched lives, we have established the “DNP Group AI Ethics Policy.”
Promoting Digital Transformation (DX) for Value Creation
By combining P&I Innovations and the strengths of our six capitals through digital transformation (DX), we will expand the cycle of value co-creation with companies, organizations, consumers, and society. We will further evolve the strengths of “P&I” (Printing and Information) through advanced digital technologies and effective data utilization, transforming both the engineering and value chains. From procurement, design, and manufacturing to distribution and customer touchpoints, we will diversify and optimize information processing and communication while delivering rich forms of expression. Through these efforts, we aim to achieve sustainable growth and help solve social challenges across our three divisions: Smart Communication, Life & Healthcare, and Electronics.
Creating a society that collaborates with AI through the transfer of knowledge
DNP is working to realize an AI-Ready society in which knowledge held by companies and organizations can be re-capitalized and AI used effectively and safely.
By combining our document structuring technology, developed through processing diverse, large-scale information, with the latest generative AI, our proprietary Structured AI technology transforms organizational data into AI-optimized formats. This maximizes the value of data and helps build a society where humans and AI collaborate seamlessly.
New communication between real and virtual worlds
DNP is creating a new form of communication and economic space that allows people to move seamlessly between the real and virtual worlds, without being divided or excluded based on age, gender, nationality, or other attributes.
Leveraging the high-quality expression techniques and large-scale information processing capabilities cultivated through printing processes, we have advanced these into high-definition 3D technologies, enhancing experiential value in XR (Extended Reality) virtual spaces through safe, secure data distribution.
Contributing to a circular economy through manufacturing innovation
By enabling advanced data coordination across the entire supply chain, we increase the flexibility of production planning, shorten time-to-market, and help address social challenges such as energy conservation, resource circulation, and product recycling.
We also utilize annealing technology, which performs high-speed optimization calculations for work schedules and movement paths, to improve processes in our own factories and enhance productivity through automation.
Initiatives to create new businesses
Promoting DX to Strengthen the Management Foundation
To drive P&I Innovations, DNP is enhancing DX promotion talent, organizational culture, and DX infrastructure as core capabilities. DX initiatives are underway in management, planning, sales, manufacturing, and research and development. These efforts aim to significantly improve productivity by advancing business processes and operations, thereby supporting the sustained strengthening of business competitiveness based on our value creation story.
DX promotion organization
The Chief Digital Officer (CDO), appointed by the President and CEO, oversees all digital transformation initiatives across the company. A dedicated "Digital Transformation Promotion Department" has been established at the head office, and under robust cybersecurity and appropriate AI governance frameworks, divisions collaborate across functions to implement company-wide DX initiatives.
Digital Transformation (DX) Infrastructure
We are achieving sustainable corporate growth by continuously enhancing our DX infrastructure, which consists of a data management platform, an AI utilization platform, and system modernization.
Digital Transformation (DX) Promotion Talent
Strengthening recruitment and training of specialized personnel
In response to rapid social changes, securing personnel with the expertise to enhance corporate value is a critical challenge. DNP is addressing this by strengthening recruitment and developing specialized talent aligned with its human resources portfolio. In particular, DNP defines “value creation through P&I Innovations” as its approach to digital transformation (DX) and focuses on developing personnel to lead DX initiatives. DX talent is defined in two tiers: “digital transformation foundational talent” and “digital transformation promotion talent.” DNP provides both basic literacy education and specialized training tailored to each skill level.
Levels of Digital Transformation (DX) Talent
In line with the Digital Skill Standards established by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, DNP is advancing the development of digital transformation (DX) talent. “Digital Transformation Foundational Talent” is defined as employees who possess DX literacy and view digital transformation as their own responsibility, and this category includes all DNP Group employees. “Digital Transformation Promotion Talent” refers to specialized personnel who support DX initiatives within each division. To provide education tailored to each level, detailed level definitions were established in FY2024.
Strengthening the Development of Digital Transformation (DX) Talent
Digital transformation (DX) literacy education for “Digital Transformation Foundational Talent” aims to have all 27,500 targeted employees complete the program by the end of FY2025 (as of the end of FY2024, approximately 92.6% (25,473 employees) had completed it).
For “Digital Transformation Promotion Talent,” who possess more advanced expertise, development efforts focus on core ICT personnel involved in DX initiatives. The goal is to achieve IT Skill Standard (ITSS) Level 3 or higher, and in FY2024, 1,036 employees reached this level. In addition to specialized training in AI, cloud computing, and agile methodologies, we have expanded practical, business-specific programs in which employees apply what they learn to drive business growth and improve operational outcomes. In FY2024, a new program was introduced where employees analyze actual business data to make proposals to clients and optimize operations. These programs will continue to expand in the future.
Moreover, as one of the placements for new employees, we offer a “P&I Training Course,” a roughly one-year program in which participants thoroughly acquire the skills and mindset necessary to drive DX. Employees who complete this course take on key roles in promoting digital transformation. Recognizing the importance of digital talent early on, we launched this course in 1990 to develop digital personnel; as of the end of FY2024, approximately 600 employees have completed it. In FY2024, the course was also extended to new high school graduate employees, establishing a specialized training track to prepare them for future roles in DX promotion.
- The IT Skill Standard (ITSS) is an index for evaluating IT skills that was created with the aim of cultivating highly skilled IT personnel.
- Level 3 of the IT Skill Standard (ITSS) reflects applied knowledge and skills, allowing for independent judgment and task execution in one’s assigned duties.
