Creating value through DX to create a better future

We are promoting value creation through DX by establishing a policy based on two pillars: "creating value" by creating and transforming business models based on a medium- to long-term business portfolio strategy, and "strengthening business base" by improving business competitiveness through innovation in internal systems and dramatic improvements in productivity.

AI Initiatives

Aiming to create new value through DNP's unique strengths and external collaboration, we are exploring the potential of generative AI and promoting co-creation with external partners. By enhancing the document structure recognition technology cultivated through the secondary use of print data, we have developed a unique data formatting technology that dramatically improves the accuracy of generative AI responses. We will continue to develop solutions that utilize our knowledge of processing and formatting various documents.

Through diversifying, optimizing, and enriching information processing and communication across procurement, design, manufacturing, distribution, and customer contact points, we will achieve sustainable growth and resolve social issues in the three division of smart communications, life & healthcare, and electronics.

Creating a society that collaborates with AI through knowledge inheritance

DNP is working to recapitalize the knowledge held by companies and organizations and realize an "AI-Ready" society where AI can be used effectively and safely.
By combining our "document structuring technology" developed through the processing of diverse and large volumes of information with the latest generative AI, we can convert data within companies and organizations into a structure that is optimal for AI, thereby maximizing the value of data and building a society in which people and AI work together.

New communication between real and virtual worlds

DNP is creating a new communication and economic sphere that allows people to move between the real and virtual worlds without being separated by diverse attributes such as age, gender, or nationality.
We are further enhancing the "high-quality expression technology" and "massive information processing capabilities" cultivated through the printing process into "high-definition 3D technology," improving the experiential value of XR (Extended Reality) virtual spaces with safe and secure data distribution.

Contributing to a circular economy through manufacturing innovation

By implementing advanced data sharing across the entire supply chain, we are not only increasing the flexibility of production plans and shortening time to market, but also contributing to solving social issues through energy conservation, resource circulation, and product recycling.
By utilizing annealing technology, which performs high-speed optimization calculations for work plans and movement routes, we are improving our own factory processes and automating them to increase productivity.

Promoting digital transformation to strengthen management foundations

To promote P&I Innovations across the entire company, we are strengthening our capabilities, including DX promotion personnel, organizational culture, and DX infrastructure. We are promoting DX in all areas, including management, planning, sales, manufacturing, and research and development, dramatically improving productivity by enhancing business processes and operations, leading to sustained strengthening of business competitiveness based on our value creation story.

The Chief Digital Officer (CDO), appointed by the President and Director, oversees DX-related initiatives across the company. A dedicated DX Promotion Supervisory Organization has been established at the head office, and under a robust cybersecurity and appropriate AI governance system, each division works together across the board to implement DX promotion measures across the company.

We are achieving sustainable corporate growth by continuously enhancing our DX infrastructure, which consists of a data management infrastructure, an AI utilization platform, and system modernization.

Strengthening recruitment and training of specialized personnel

In order to respond to the rapid changes in the social environment, securing human resources with the expertise necessary to increase corporate value has become a critical issue. To address these issues, DNP is strengthening the recruitment and development of highly specialized human resources based on its human resources portfolio. In particular, DNP has defined "value creation through P&I Innovations" as "DNP's DX" and is focusing on developing human resources who will promote DX. DNP defines DX human resources at two levels: "DX basic human resources" and "DX promotion human resources," and provides basic literacy education and specialized education tailored to each individual's level.

Defining the level of DX talent

We are developing DX human resources in accordance with the digital skills standards established by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. "DX Basic Human Resources" are defined as people who have DX literacy and see DX as something that applies to them personally, and are targeted at all DNP Group employees. We also define "DX Promotion Human Resources" as specialized human resources who support the promotion of DX in each division. In order to provide education tailored to each level, we have set detailed level definitions for fiscal 2024.

Define the levels of DX basic talent and DX promotion talent

Strengthening DX human resource development

The aim is for 27,500 eligible employees to complete the literacy training for "DX basic personnel" by the end of fiscal 2025 (as of the end of fiscal 2024, approximately 92.6% (25,473 employees) had completed the training).
To develop "DX Promotion Human Resources" with higher levels of expertise, we are promoting the development of employees involved in ICT development, which is the core of this work. Our goal is to achieve IT Skill Standard Level 3 or above, and 1,036 employees reached this level in fiscal 2024. In addition to specialized training in areas such as AI, cloud computing, and agile, we are expanding our business-specific practical training programs, which link the content learned in the training to business growth and operational results. In fiscal 2024, we launched a new program that analyzes actual business data to make proposals to companies and realize business efficiency improvements. We will continue to expand our programs in the future.
Additionally, new employees are assigned to a P&I training course, where they spend approximately one year thoroughly acquiring the skills and mindset needed to realize DX, and employees who complete this course play an important role in promoting DX. DNP recognized the importance of digital talent early on, and launched this course in 1990 with the aim of cultivating digital talent, with a cumulative total of approximately 600 employees having completed the course as of the end of fiscal year 2024. In fiscal year 2024, the course will be expanded to include new high school graduates, and a specialized education course will be established to prepare employees for the role of promoting DX in the future.
