Luxury Media, which adds a special sheen to photos of parties and events, is being rolled out worldwide.

Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (DNP) is pleased to announce the addition of a new grade of "Luxury Media" (LX Media), which expresses metallic and pearlescent luster effects, to its lineup of dye-sublimation thermal transfer media (color ink ribbons and receiving paper) *1 for photo printing. DNP will commence full-scale sales of the new media in Japan and globally, targeting industries such as events, weddings and photo studios.
LX Media will be exhibited at the DNP Imagingcomm America Corporation booth at Wedding Portrait Photographers International (WPPI), to be held in Las Vegas, USA from February 25 to March 1, 2019.
[Features of LX Media]
LX media, which achieves a special glossy finish, is a new printing option that can be used in a variety of situations. At the same time, it makes it possible to provide consumers with high-value-added prints. LX media is compatible with DNP's dye-sublimation digital photo printers, the DS620 and DS820.
■Metallic: A special process is applied to the printing paper to create a metallic look. Recommended for printing shiny products such as jewelry and cars, dynamic sports scenes, and dynamic architecture and landscapes.
■Silver Pearl: The pearlescent luster creates a natural skin tone and soft edges. It is suitable for a wide range of uses, including wedding and birth announcements, original invitations, and greeting cards.

- dye-sublimation thermal transfer media: A recording material in which ink from a rolled film coated with three colors - yellow, magenta, and cyan - is transferred to receiving paper by thermal sublimation according to the density of the image. It reproduces high-quality images equivalent to conventional silver halide methods, excels in high-speed printing, and has low equipment introduction costs and maintenance burden, making it highly regarded in the market. DNP's dye-sublimation digital photo printer system also excels in color expression, and demand for it for photo printing is growing.
