Tokyo, December 8, Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (DNP) is pleased to announce that the Company has been awarded the Special Prize at the Cyber Index Awards 2022 (sponsored by Nikkei Inc. in cooperation with Nikkei Business Publications, Inc.). 

The awards, which are in their second year, presents a Grand Prix and the Special Prize to companies and initiatives that achieve outstanding results in cyber security. This year the award ceremony was held on Thursday, December 8. 

Reason for the Special Prize from the Organizer^*1

“DNP has announced that it will implement a cyber security educational program aimed at nurturing plus-security human resources for all of the approximately 30,000 DNP Group employees, both in Japan and overseas^*2. By educating not only employees in the IT sections but also those in the non-information technology departments on advanced cyber security knowledge, DNP is working to create a system that enables all employees involved in normal business operations to avoid cyber related unexpected events and the resulting expansion of adverse impact without relying on the information systems department. As cyber-attacks become more diverse, there is an urgent need to raise the level of literacy throughout the company, including non-IT departments. The "all-employee participation" type Plus Security personnel training initiated by the company is a unique initiative among Japanese companies, and we expect it to spread to more and more companies.”

Cyber Index Awards 2022

In line with the aims of the Cyber Initiative Tokyo, Nikkei Inc. has established the Cyber Index Awards in 2021 to recognize companies and initiatives that are achieving outstanding results in cybersecurity, a key area for significant progress in the digital transformation (DX) of the economy and society. An independent jury consisting of leading experts in the field, with the cooperation of Information Technology Federation of Japan, which conducts a large-scale survey on corporate cybersecurity, select the awards. By recognizing outstanding initiatives, the awards aim to promote and disseminate best practices throughout industry and society at large.

Cyber Knowledge Academy Co., Ltd. (CKA), a DNP Group company, is engaged in the business of training cyber incident response management personnel responsible for countermeasures against cyber-attacks. CKA has a particular focus on employee education as a human resource measure. In addition to existing security education and targeted phishing mail attack drills, hands-on educational programs designed to promote proper responses when under a cyber-attack are being implemented for all domestic and overseas employees who have DNP group e-mail address.
