DNP to Host Step into CAT ART, a VR Exhibition
The World of Cat-Inspired Artist Shu Yamamoto will Come Alive Before Your Eyes as Characters Speak, Wink and Yawn!

Tokyo, September 16, Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (DNP) in conjunction with HTC Corporation (HTC)*1and udnFunLife Co. Ltd. (udnFunLife)*2 hosts Step into CAT ART. The online global release is a Virtual Reality (VR) representation of an exhibition by world famous cat-inspired artist, Shu Yamamoto, entitled The World of Shu Yamamoto, CAT ART. The exhibition will run from September 17, 2021 till March 31, 2022.
CAT ART is an exhibition that takes inspiration from cats to provide unique expressions of world-famous art works, such as the Mona Lisa. Provided by popular cat artist Shu Yamamoto. DNP has been responsible for global licensing management of CAT ART since 2018. Over that period a total of more than 300,000 people have visited CAT ART exhibitions held at various locations around the world.
In this latest development, with the cooperation of HTC, a VR content platformer with a distribution track record in more than 50 countries, and udnFunLife, a major event operator, DNP hosts the global release of Step into CAT ART, a VR exhibition leveraging HTC's VR platform "VIVEPORT". The online event will help tear down the physical borders, and we aim to provide people around the world with new learning and fun experience value.
Step into CAT ART
Step into CAT ART is a highly entertaining exhibition in which the cats depicted in the art works move and talk using VR technology, to provide a striking immersive viewing experience.
Cat masterpieces include the “Mewna Lisa”, the lady with the famous mystic smile, or the “Kitty with The Pearl Earring”, or yet again, the Self-Pawtrait with Bandaged Ear. Each of these re-castings of world-famous art works provides the viewer with a special experience from both the visual and audio standpoints.
Highlights! Did the Mewna Lisa just wink at me?!
What would you do if the cat Mewna Lisa waggled her ears and winked at you? Or if the elegant cat Kitty with The Pearl Earring let out a yawn? The newly created 3D animation Cat Masterpieces incorporate various tricks to stimulate the watcher’s imagination and sense of play!
More highlights! Reproducing majestic frescoes 124 items that decorate the walls of the Hisstine Chapel!
Experience the impact of the murals before your eyes! The Last Judgement and the The Creation of Tom have all been restored and bring to life the majestic and sacred atmosphere of the Hisstine Chapel.
