Exhibition Objectives
DNP will showcase DNP’s Medical Sterilization Pouch for medical devices and mono-material packaging for the companies mainly in the medical device and pharmaceutical industries.
Main Exhibits
1. DNP’s Medical Sterilization Pouch *1
By coating non-woven fabric with a heat-seal agent, DNP has developed specifications designed to improve ease of opening compared with uncoated products while maintaining breathability. In addition, leveraging DNP’s converting (material processing) technologies, the product lineup includes mono-material sterilization pouches that provide seal strength and easy-peel functionality equivalent to DNP’s conventional products.
2. DNP’s Moisture-Absorbing Packaging
The packaging material incorporates a moisture-absorbing agent into a polyolefin-based film to absorb moisture from both the package interior and the contents, thereby helping maintain an appropriate moisture level inside the package. For example, moisture-sensitive pharmaceuticals face the challenge of absorbing atmospheric moisture, which can lead to degradation and reduced efficacy. DNP’s Moisture-Absorbing Packaging helps reduce these issues while also enabling flexible package designs tailored to the contents.
3. DNP’s Mono-material Packaging (Polypropylene (PP) / Polyethylene (PE) Specifications)
The packaging is designed with a mono-material structure in accordance with the guidelines of the European Consortium, Circular Economy for Flexible Packaging (CEFLEX).*2
The structure improves sortability and recyclability compared with conventional multi material-material packaging. By leveraging its proprietary film-forming, vapor-deposition, and converting technologies, DNP has achieved the oxygen and water vapor barrier properties and filling performance required for packaging applications.
4. Plastic film for PTP (press through package) *3
DNP has developed a PP top lidding film for PTP*⁴ that imparts barrier properties to PP, the same material used for the plastic bottom sheet, thereby serving as a replacement for the aluminum foil traditionally used in PTP format. Recycling PTP packaging previously required a step to separate the plastic sheet from the aluminum foil. Switching to this newly developed PP top lidding film, however, enables the use of mono-material packaging.
*1 DNP’s Medical Sterilization Pouch
Designed to allow medical devices to be sterilized while sealed inside the pouch. Compatible with several sterilization methods such as ethylene oxide gas (EOG) and gamma (γ) irradiation.
*2 CEFLEX Guidelines
International design guidelines, Designing for a Circular Economy (D4ACE), aimed at enhancing the recyclability of flexible packaging. The guidelines establish standards for material composition designed to improve sortability and the quality of recycled materials.
*3 PTP
A method of pharmaceutical packaging in which tablets or capsules are sealed between a plastic sheet and aluminum foil. Pressing firmly on the plastic side breaks the aluminum foil, allowing tablets or capsules to be removed individually.
*4 PP top lidding film for PTP
