Focused on challenges and needs: Responding to people around the world's desire to "capture this moment in a photograph."
With the widespread use of smartphones, the number of photos taken worldwide is on the rise. The trend of framing and displaying special moments and memories, or preserving them in photo books and calendars, is also expanding, leading to a diversification of the needs for photo prints.
Accordingly, there is a growing need to build technologies and systems that can provide services such as photography, processing, and output sales, as well as cloud-based image sales services, with higher quality, greater security, and on a more global scale.
Against this backdrop of growing demand, DNP is committed to providing photography experiences that deliver "that special photo" to people all over the world and connect smiles.
P&I – Strengths in manufacturing developed and refined through printing – " dye-sublimation thermal transfer media" (World's No. 1 market share) supporting photo imaging.
DNP leverages its proven track record of handling important visual information such as photographs and image data with rigorous care, along with its unique technological capabilities in information processing, precision coating, and post-processing, to develop its business in the field of photo imaging.
In particular, DNP has achieved the top global market share in dye-sublimation thermal transfer media, which are widely used for printing digital images such as photos taken with smartphones, prints from photo booths, and ID cards. dye-sublimation thermal transfer media refer to ink ribbons coated with the three primary colors of dyes—yellow, magenta, and cyan—on a thin film, and special receiving paper. High-definition images can be output by transferring the dyes to the special receiving paper using heat. Since developing the manufacturing technology in 1985, utilizing the precision coating and plating technologies cultivated in printing, DNP has been working to provide dye-sublimation thermal transfer media.
Furthermore, by integrating printing and digital technologies, we offer shooting, processing, and output services tailored to diverse photographic needs, as well as cloud-based image sales, all under a secure data management system. We deliver products and services that capture people's memories and precious moments, supporting safe and comfortable communication.
TAIWA (dialogue) and cooperation–TAIWA (dialogue) and cooperation between All DNP and Diverse Partners – Strengthening Sales, Planning, and Development Systems in Global Markets
In providing products and services in the photoimaging field, including dye-sublimation thermal transfer media, under the DNP brand, the challenge was expanding into the global market.
In the early 2000s, DNP's brand recognition was still low overseas, making market entry difficult. However, in 2011, the company acquired Sony's digital photo printer business, expanding its overseas sales channels. Through global branding and marketing, DNP has strengthened its brand awareness and, together with its partners, has been developing overseas bases and supply chains.
Colorvision International, a US company that became a group company in 2020, specializes in providing "ride photos" at theme parks and other venues. By combining its expertise in content planning, production, and system development with DNP's printing-related technologies and services, DNP is expanding its photo services both domestically and internationally. In Europe, DNP has also acquired Sharingbox, a company that develops marketing photo booths that provide a comprehensive service from shooting and printing to image data sharing, and is collaborating with them to support corporate promotional events.

Creating a society filled with smiles and peace of mind: by providing diverse photo-related services.
DNP's strengths lie in dye-sublimation thermal transfer media and various technologies supporting photo services and solutions. Combined with the products, services, and global supply network of its partners, DNP now operates over 300,000 printers in more than 100 countries worldwide, providing approximately 5 billion photo prints annually. To create diverse photo services for the entire world that capture and preserve those emotionally moving moments, DNP will further advance its "P&I Innovation."
For example, we will respond to diverse needs such as "fan activities" where you can take commemorative photos with anime characters or idols, or the culture of enjoying photos by turning them into albums and greeting cards, which is deeply rooted in daily life in Europe and America, and "wanting to have special moments in a tangible form."
Through photographs, you can share emotions and memories with family, friends, and colleagues. Everyone, regardless of age or skill level, can express and share their perspective and sensibilities. You can enjoy the experiential value created by the fusion of the real and digital worlds. We aim to expand these possibilities and contribute to creating an environment where "special photos" can be delivered more vividly, more impressively, and more safely and securely. We will connect people through photographs and realize a society where "comfortable communication is possible."
In the field of photo imaging, we will further enhance the value of DNP brand print products, including dye-sublimation thermal transfer media, and image processing services as a whole, while promoting business development utilizing content, expansion of bases, and creation of new markets.
Leveraging DNP's strength in "P&I" (Personal and Industrial Integration), we will create unprecedented new value together with our many partners.
