DNP Acquires Highest Supplier Engagement Evaluation from CDP for Third Consecutive Year

Climate change prevention efforts recognized and included on Leader Board

Tokyo, February 18, 2022, Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (DNP), has been recognized by the CDP1 for its supplier engagement efforts, and the third consecutive year has been granted a position on the Supplier Engagement Leaderboard, the highest evaluation awarded by the London-based organization.

The CDP survey was launched in 2017, and approximately 13,000 international companies were surveyed and evaluated in the latest 2021 survey. Worldwide, some 518 companies, including 105 in Japan, received the highest rating and were selected for a position on the Supplier Engagement Leader Board.

At DNP we are engaged on a group wide basis with climate change countermeasures throughout our entire supply chain, and are making efforts reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. We strive to reduce GHG emissions throughout the entire lifecycle of our products and services, from raw material procurement through production, distribution, use, disposal, and recycling. Our efforts throughout the entire supply chain were highly evaluated, including the fact that we urge our suppliers to establish GHG emission reduction targets.

Climate Change Engagement at DNP

DNP was ahead of the industry in which we operate in overcoming environmental challenges, including the 1972 establishment of an environmental department. We are focused on the realization of a sustainable society, such as developing and providing environmentally-friendly products and services.

In order to accelerate these activities, in March 2020 we established the DNP Group Environmental Vision 20502 and all our employees are strongly aware of the relationship between our individual businesses and the environment. We take this opportunity to reiterate our aim to realize a carbon free, recycling-oriented society that exists in harmony with nature. In particular, while targeting a carbon free society, we are also aiming to achieve effective zero GHG emissions by 2050 from business activities at each of our operating bases. In addition, we will promote a reduction in the environmental burden through our products and services.

We have a stated GHG emission interim reduction target of 40% by FY 2030 compared to FY 2015. In FY 2020 a significant reduction of 30.3% was already achieved, and we are aiming for targets to be achieved ahead of schedule.

Looking ahead, DNP aims to realize a better, sustainable society that balances our growth as a company while overcoming social challenges, and will strive to achieve new value targeting the realization of more comfortable lives for consumers.
