Message from the President
Further accelerating transformation to realize a "better future"
The DNP Group believes that a healthy society and economy, and comfortable and fulfilling lives for people, can only be achieved on a sustainable planet. In recent years, the environment, society, and economy have undergone rapid change, and the factors affecting business management have become increasingly diverse and complex.
In this context, the Sustainability Committee, of which I am chairman, identifies issues related to business activities and evaluates and analyzes them not just as risks but also as opportunities for future growth. By repeatedly examining issues from both the risk and opportunity perspectives, we can accurately reflect the results in our medium- to long-term management strategies.
We aim to realize a "better future" not only by responding flexibly and agilely to change but also by anticipating change and initiating our own transformation. As part of this, we have identified "materiality," the key issues we will prioritize to realize the "four societies" that we envision as our "better future." Based on this, we have clarified the value to be prioritized and created from a global and long-term perspective and are promoting initiatives in line with the "business strategy," "financial strategy," and "non-financial strategy" of our medium-term management plan. Furthermore, we are working to further strengthen and enhance our corporate governance in order to continue to increase our corporate value and remain a company trusted by all stakeholders.
Going forward, we will continue to steadily strengthen our management foundation, continuously create new value, and strive for sustainable growth by thoroughly implementing self-directed risk management.
Strengthening human capital
Strengthening our "human capital" which is the driving force behind the DNP Group's sustainable growth and the key to our transformation is one of our most important initiatives for continuing to provide value. Each and every employee is an important foundation and a source of strength for creating a "better future." We are working to strengthen our human capital based on the belief, "we value our employees, and the company grows through those employees, and those employees enrich society", which is embodied in our "Human Capital Policy".
To create value and achieve growth, each and every employee must be able to accurately grasp changes in the environment, society, and economy, think for themselves, and proactively take on challenges. Therefore, we are continually working to create an environment where diverse human resources can learn and grow autonomously, by enhancing our training programs, supporting self-development, and expanding our open recruitment system, which emphasizes employees' independent and autonomous will. We also actively implement initiatives to support employees' autonomous career development and challenges from both a systems and corporate culture perspective, such as an awards system to recognize employees who proactively take on challenges without fear of failure, the visualization of the strengths and challenges of the organization, and the creation of a psychologically safe workplace.
These initiatives are based on the DNP Group's approach to diversity and inclusion (D&I). By respecting the differences between each employee, accepting each other, and leveraging diversity as a strength, we maximize the organization's capabilities, leading to the resolution of social issues and the creation of value that meets people's expectations. Furthermore, as the importance of respecting human rights grows, we are formulating a human rights policy, promoting human rights due diligence, and strengthening our management system.
Strengthening intellectual capital
Intellectual capital, including technology, know-how, and human resources, is the foundation for us to continue providing new value to society, and the accumulation and utilization of knowledge is essential to creating highly competitive products and services. In order to create globally competitive products and services that lead to sustainable growth, the DNP Group is further refining its unique strengths in "P&I" (Printing & Information), cultivated over many years. Furthermore, by deepening collaboration with partners such as diverse companies, organizations, universities, and research institutions, we will further enhance the value of our intellectual capital.
We are promoting strategic research and development and investing continuously and proactively to realize the "better future" we envision. Anticipating global needs such as reducing environmental impact and enhancing well-being, we are strengthening our marketing and research and development systems for each country and region. We are also promoting digital transformation in both business growth and productivity innovation, striving to introduce necessary technologies and enhance our human resources.
Going forward, we will continue to create synergies through "All DNP," bringing all division together, and take on the challenge of balancing the resolution of social issues with sustainable growth.
Environmental Initiatives
The DNP Group believes that coexistence with the global environment is essential for the sustainable growth of a company. Addressing environmental issues is a social responsibility that we must fulfill and is also an important initiative in enhancing the sustainability of our business. As natural environmental issues such as climate change and biodiversity loss have become more serious in recent years, we have positioned environmental conservation and the reduction of environmental impact as materiality (material issues) and are pursuing a balance between our business activities and the global environment.
Under the "DNP Group Environmental Vision 2050," we are accelerating our efforts to realize a carbon-neutral society, circular society, and society in harmony with nature by systematically assessing our dependences and impact on natural capital to identify risks and opportunities. For example, in response to climate change, we have set ambitious targets in line with the international 1.5°C goal and are working to reduce GHG emissions throughout our supply chain. We are also focusing on reducing the environmental impact of our products and services by promoting the development and use of low-carbon materials, minimizing unnecessary materials, and the efficient use and recycling of resources.
We will continue to contribute to building a sustainable society by working to resolve various environmental issues based on coexistence with nature.
