Product Safety and Quality
Basic Approach
To embody our corporate philosophy of "Connecting people and society to provide new value," DNP practices quality management, prioritizing safety and quality as essential responsibilities in delivering products and services to society, and thereby earning the trust of society. To ensure effective quality management, DNP is constantly engaging in "dialogue" both inside and outside the DNP Group, constantly envisioning how our products and services will be used, and repeatedly examining, from the perspectives of customers and consumers, safety, required quality, and ease of use, and making improvements.
Furthermore, through P&I Innovations that combine the DNP Group's strengths of advanced printing and information technologies, we aim to continue providing products and services with safety and quality that exceed the needs and expectations of customers and consumers, thereby gaining even greater satisfaction and trust and achieving sustainable growth for both society and the DNP Group.
Policy
Promotion Structure
We have established the DNP Group Quality Assurance and Product Safety Committee, with the head office executive officer as chairperson, as a company-wide umbrella organization for promoting Quality Management. We have also established company-wide rules for matters that must be implemented to ensure the safety and quality of products and services, building a group-wide quality management system and product safety management structure. In addition, we have set up the Quality Assurance and Product Safety Committees in each business division and group company, which are the main operators of our business, and each of these independently maintains, operates, and improves their quality management systems and product safety management structures.
Based on these company-wide rules, the Quality Assurance Supervisory Division at the headquarters R&D and Engineering Management Division reports the status of activities and issues at each business unit and group company to the chair of the DNP Group Quality Assurance and Product Safety Committee twice a year to review policies and targets and improve activities. In addition, the company guides business divisions and group companies to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, standards, and other norms, to prevent accidents related to the safety and quality of products and services, and to ensure appropriate responses in the event of an accident.
DNP anticipates the demands of customers, consumers and society at large, and is proactively obtaining various quality assurance-related certifications, including the international quality management standard ISO9001, the food safety management system FSSC22000 in the food packaging field, and the automotive industry quality management system IATF16949 in the automotive field.

Strategy and Risk Management
In order to continually provide products and services that customers can trust in terms of both safety and quality, DNP identifies and evaluates safety and quality risks for all products and services from the design stage, and works to reduce any risks that are detected. Furthermore, by continually monitoring and conducting regular risk checks even after the products have been delivered, we are able to respond to changes in the social and technological environment. If the results of risk checks indicate the necessity of design changes or improvements to manufacturing technology, we respond appropriately and also review our internal standards.
Safety and quality evaluation in real-world environments
To ensure that the products and services we provide can be used with confidence, DNP conducts tests and evaluations that simulate the actual usage environment and determines whether or not to release them. In addition, for products and services that require high reliability and durability, we conduct tests and evaluations under even stricter conditions. Furthermore, when we make changes to the materials, shape, manufacturing methods, or service content of a product in response to changes in customer and consumer needs or the internal and external environment, we conduct the same tests and evaluations again to determine whether or not to make the changes.
Initiatives to prevent quality fraud
Amid a series of quality fraud both in Japan and overseas, DNP works to prevent similar problems from occurring within the Group by not only undergoing external certification and assessment, such as ISO, but also by having the Quality Assurance Supervisory Division confirm the effectiveness of its quality management system, thereby strengthening its systems. In addition, the company continuously conducts case studies, along with training and awareness activities, to foster a culture that prevents quality fraud.
Internal audit/external audit
Internal audit
Regardless of whether it has obtained ISO 9001 certification, each business division and group company conducts regular internal audits in accordance with ISO 9001 and additional internal rules.
External audit
We are also properly audited by customers and certification bodies. The results are reported to the management by the Quality Assurance and Product Safety Committee of each business unit and group company, and are shared with the Quality Assurance Supervisory Division at the headquarters.
Quality system inspections
To confirm the operational status of the quality management system, the head office's Quality Assurance Supervisory Division conducts a quality system inspection once a year, and reports the inspection results to the chair of the DNP Group Quality Assurance and Product Safety Committee and the Corporate Ethics Committee. In addition, the contents of this inspection are reviewed annually to continuously ensure the effectiveness of the quality management system.
