Basic Approach

DNP believes that building trust with stakeholders, including business partners, employees, local communities, consumers, and shareholders and investors, is essential for the company to grow sustainably together with society. To ensure that stakeholders correctly understand our business operations and corporate activities, we proactively disclose information and fulfill our accountability. Furthermore, to properly recognize how DNP itself is perceived, we aim to deepen dialogue with stakeholders and sincerely respond to the challenges and expectations that emerge from this dialogue, thereby becoming a trusted company.

To clearly demonstrate this approach both inside and outside the company, we have adopted the Multi-Stakeholder Policy and the Partnership Building Declaration.

Multi-Stakeholder Policy

DNP has formulated the Multi-Stakeholder Policy based on the recognition that building relationships of trust with all stakeholders is important for the company to grow sustainably together with society.

Partnership Building Declaration

DNP has made the Partnership Building Declaration to ensure that all employees act with integrity and uphold high ethical standards in their dealings with business partners across the supply chain and with a wide range of companies and organizations, including startups.

    The initiative was established by the Council for Promoting Partnership Building to Pave the Future, whose members include the chair of the Japan Federation of Economic Organizations, the chair of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the chair of the Japanese Trade Union Confederation, and relevant ministers (Cabinet Office; Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry; Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare; Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries; and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism). It clearly demonstrates both inside and outside the company our commitment to building new partnerships by promoting collaboration, coexistence, and mutual prosperity with business partners across the supply chain and with businesses seeking to create value.

Promotion Structure

DNP understands the content of stakeholder engagement, including opinions received through various contact points, and utilizes this information to improve its business activities. The opinions received are compiled by division in charge of each contact point, and the information is regularly shared at Management Committee and Board of Directors. In addition, the results of stakeholder engagement are shared with each stakeholder in reports, etc., as necessary.

DNP's business activities involve a wide variety of individuals and organizations. Among these, we have identified business partners, employees, local communities, consumers, and shareholders and investors as important stakeholders for DNP to grow sustainably together with society.

Additionally, we review the identification and prioritization of stakeholders as appropriate in response to changes in the internal and external environment.

Engagement Activities

Engagement activities with business partners (suppliers, contractors, customers, etc.)

Under its Partnership Building Declaration, DNP builds relationships of trust with business partners, including suppliers and contractors, while enhancing the social compatibility of the entire supply chain. In addition, DNP conducts transactions based on the DNP Group Sustainable Procurement Guidelines, disseminating our company's policies set forth in these guidelines, and regularly assesses and evaluates the status of these initiatives, providing feedback on the results. Furthermore, through open innovation, we are deepening communication with a variety of companies and organizations, including startups, and promoting the creation of new value and new businesses.

DNP's sustainability initiatives have been highly praised in supplier surveys conducted by numerous client companies.

Engagement activities with employees

DNP has made "dialogue" one of its guiding principles formulated in 2001, and regularly conducts various surveys to incorporate employee feedback into its corporate activities. Each organization engages in dialogue based on the survey results, and this dialogue is then used to improve various themes and strengthen management.

Participation in External Initiatives and Organizations

DNP actively participates in international initiatives and organizations in order to contribute to resolving social issues on a global scale.

*DNP announced its support for the United Nations Global Compact in July 2006.

*DNP agrees with the initiatives of the United Nations Global Compact’s local network in Japan (Global Compact Network Japan) and participates in subcommittees that are based on such themes as human rights, the environment, and procurement.
