DNP Selected as Component Member of DJSI Asia Pacific SRI Index

Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (DNP) has been incorporated into the Dow JonesSustainability Indices (DJSI Asia Pacific), a globally influential Social ResponsibilityIndex (SRI).

Companies are selected based on criteria that assess their contribution toCorporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives as well as financial analysis.

DJSI Asia Pacific was jointly developed as a share index in 1999 by S&PDow Jones Indices, a global leader in providing investable and benchmark indices,and RobeccoSAM of Switzerland, an investment specialist in Sustainability Investing,and an SRI rating company. DJSI Asia Pacific rates some 600 companies in theAsian Pacific region on sustainability on the economic, environmental and socialdimensions of their operations, with highly ranked companies selected as indexcomponents. In FY 2016, a total of 146 companies in the region were selected,including 68 Japanese companies.

DNP was selected as an index component in recognition of its efforts towardsglobal social challenges, including enhanced activities targeting responsiblepurchasing throughout the supply chain, and awareness of human rights and laborrelated risks and challenges. The Company was also awarded the top ranking inthe environmental section of the Commercial Services & Supplies Industry,one of 59 rated industries.

[Component of Six Global SRI Indices]

In addition to DJSI Asia Pacific, DNP has also been selected by a total ofsix global SRI indices, including FTSE4Good Global and CDP The Climate A List2015, both of the U.K., MSCI Global Sustainability Indexes of the US, ETHIBELInvestment Register of Belgium, and the Morningstar Socially Responsible InvestmentIndex of Japan.

DNP is recognized, both in Japan and overseas, as a company engaged in theprovision of new value designed to overcome social challenges, operating a businessleading to sustainable development for both DNP and society.

[DNP's CSR Activities]

DNP has positioned Knowledge and Communication, Food and Healthcare, Lifestyleand Mobility and the Environment and Energy as growth areas, and is engagedin creating new value. In the Environment and Energy area, the Company is promotingthe development of a variety of products and services targeting the achievementof a sustainable society that strikes a balance between economic developmentand the conservation of the global environment.

One example is DNP Lighting Film that efficiently reflects light enteringrooms from windows onto ceilings and other areas, and diffuses it to brightenup rooms. In addition to making efforts to expand sales of battery pouches forlithium ion batteries, an area where DNP controls a large market share, theCompany is also focused on developing environmentally friendly products andservices leading to resource and energy savings, while also conserving bio-diversity.

The Company has drawn up a set of CSR responsibilities, and has defined theseas; 1, contributing to society through Value Creation, and the fair and equitablepursuit of that process by 2, Acting with Integrity in Conduct, and fulfillingsocial accountability through 3, Transparency (Accountability).
