Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (DNP) is pleased to announce that it will sponsor Murakami Radio Run & Songs, a radio program presented by Haruki Murakami, the world famous Japanese author of such novels as 1Q84.

Music features prominently in his novels – recall the orchestral version of Norwegian Wood in the novel of the same name, or the easy-listening owner of the dry cleaning store in The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, or Janacek's Sinfonietta playing on the radio of a taxi stuck in traffic in 1Q84, to name but a few instances.  

At the same time, in order to create the lyrically fluid novels that are his trademark style, Murakami has also stayed in good physical shape by running. Murakami views the combination of music and running as essential elements for creating his novels. 

It comes as no surprise, then, to learn that Murakami selected all the music featured on the radio program, which will be broadcast from 7:00PM to 7:55PM on August 5, 2018. 

Music-related questions were canvassed from Murakami fans in early June, and the author will reply to selected queries during the scheduled program.
