The Louvre Abu Dhabi is hosting Globes: Visions of the World, an exhibition scheduled to run until June 2, 2018, and Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. (DNP) is pleased to announce that the Company has been entrusted with the installation of an interactive arts appreciation system driven by 3D digital images designed to exhibit terrestrial and celestial globes from the the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF) collection.

The Louvre Abu Dhabi is a branch of the Louvre Museum, in operation since November 2017 under an agreement between the governments of Abu Dhabi and France. 

DNP has been entrusted with development and production tasks by Agence France-Muséums, which has been commissioned with the planning of the exhibition by the government of Abu Dhabi.

1. High Resolution Viewer 

A high resolution 3D digital viewer that allows visitors to stand in front of the displayed exhibit and use an attached tablet terminal to observe the display in detail. It is now possible to observe a total of five exhibits as a result of further development carried out by DNP following Globes in Motion, Decipher the World with 3D Digital Images, hosted at the DNP-Gotanda Building in February, 2016 where three exhibits were displayed.

2. Production Process Commentary System 

The system acquaints visitors with a variety of techniques and production processes, such as copper plate engravings, hand-written, printed and relief expressions. In addition to helping visitors understand the representative production methods of globes, these contents also provide information on the justification and importance of preservation and restoration. The user interface employed at the Gotanda exhibition has been altered, and thus the contents have been recreated as a video program based on a touch sensor panel. 

Production Process Commentary System

All contents can be operated in Arabic, French and English. 

Looking ahead, it is planned to host the exhibition as a BnF travelling exhibition, with prospective venues including France and Germany.
