Chemical Substance Management

Basic Approach

Standards and Guidelines

In 2004, DNP formulated the DNP Group Chemical Substance Management Standards and has been promoting green purchasing with the aim of minimizing the environmental impact. Furthermore, in 2013, we redefined the nature of chemical substances and revised our guidelines to the DNP Group Green Procurement Guidelines for Chemical Substances in order to reduce the risks that chemical substances pose to human health and the environment. In May 2025, we revised our guidelines to expand the range of target chemical substances and amend some of our management methods, managing chemical substances contained in products in line with global trends.

Indicators/Goals

To achieve sustainability, DNP aims to strengthen its management of chemical substances as part of its environmental conservation activities. In accordance with our Environmental Policy, we will promote the proper management of chemical substances throughout the entire product lifecycle, ensure compliance with the PRTR system, and work to reduce emissions of hazardous substances. Through these efforts, we aim to reduce our environmental impact and contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.

Initiatives

Management of Chemical Substances in Products and Raw Materials

Companies like DNP are being called on to properly ascertain and control the chemical substances contained in raw materials and products in use throughout the supply chain. In response, DNP has established and operates a management system compliant with the relevant JIS standards and the JAMP* Guidelines for the Management of Chemical Substances in Products.

In addition, the DNP Group handles many chemicals in its production processes. Accordingly, we have drawn up a Chemical Substance Management Guide for chemical substance handling, and have set up levees and emergency shutoff systems to prevent liquids from overflowing and installed two-tier holding tanks for the prevention of accidents at plants handling chemicals. We also stock up on materials that can be used during emergencies, such as oil absorbing sheets, and hold emergency response drills to ensure the proper response in the event of an emergency.

  • JAMP (Joint Article Management Promotion-consortium): This organization promotes cross-industry action aimed at creating and spreading the use of a framework for properly managing information on chemicals contained in products and for easily disclosing and transmitting that information through supply chains.

Chemical Substances Subject to the PRTR Law

In accordance with the PRTR system, annual amounts of chemical substances handled at each plant exceeding the legal thresholds are listed.
